Antiques: Terrific Tiaras Westminster Kokoshnik Tiara. The tiara, originally bought by the 2nd Duke of Westminster in circa 1911, is decorated with trails of 280 brilliant-cut diamonds forget-me-not flowers seen against a background of blue plique-a-jour enamel and set in platinum by Chaumet. It left the family for a time before the current 6th duke reacquired it.

Antiques: Terrific Tiaras Queen Josephines Amethyst Tiara This set of amethysts was originally owned by Napoleons first wife, Empress Josphine. She left it to her son, Eugne de Beauharnais, whose daughter, Josephine of Leuchtenberg, became queen of Sweden. The younger Josephine brought a treasure trove of her grandmothers jewels with her to Sweden, including these amethysts tiara.

Antiques: Terrific Tiaras The Empress Josephine tiara was created in 1890. After the Russian Revolution the Leuchtenberg family sold the tiara and it was bought by the Belgium royals after World War I. When Queen Elisabeth of Belgium passed away her son Prince Charles Theodore inherited it in 1965. The tiara then passed nto Queen Maria Jose’s hands when Charles Theodore passed away in 1983. Princess Maria Gabriella inherited the tiara in 2001 and later put the tiara up for auction in 2007.
