This is a gorgeous and rare sterling and plique a jour enamel locket. Plique enamel is the most fragile, as each cell is filled with translucent glass and the result is like a stained glass window. It’s not all that common to find one in such good condition, with no breaks or cracks to the enamel. It’s possible there was a mirror inside at one point.
